Beware . . . Haunted

chacachacare island is an abandoned leper colony.
people lived here up until about 30 years ago.
now the builings are all being reposessed
by the jungle.

what makes it such a creepy place
is that it seems like the people left everything behind
when they moved on.....

...as if the people just vanished....

the hospital beds are still lined up against the walls
and x-rays and patients files are scattered on the floor

in the movie theatre there is still film
in the rusty projector

and dirty dishes were left in the sinks
and on tables

finally got jack to the altar...
...sort of...

a cabinet in the dispensary
still has medicines
on the shelves

pots and dishes were left
on the table as if the people
just disappeared in the middle
of dinner

the only people buried in the cemetary were nuns
so where are all the others who died here?...

...the crematorium?

we found records dated up to 1972
in the mess of old paperwork

the upstairs balcony
at the doctor's residence

one of the many abandoned houses
in chacachacare
